Our work begins in relationship with community individuals and institutions. That’s why our Community Development Director, Tory Worley, lives just down the street, establishing long-term connection with the neighbors and churches in our area so we can mobilize Urban Ministry Teams to address the most pressing needs in our community.
Urban Ministry Teams
Urban Ministry Teams (or UMTs) come to Hope from churches and campus ministries nationwide for a seven-day Christian community development crash course. During the week, we focus on racial reconciliation and holistic ministry to socio- and economically-distressed communities in hands-on work projects and interactions with our neighbors.
As Christians, we believe community transformation requires something more than good jobs and financial stability; we all need to grow spiritually. We partner with churches in the community to effectively address the spiritual needs at the root of our economic efforts.
