The community development department engages, invests in and empowers our neighbors by convening, conferring, collaborating and coordinating with them to understand the needs of the community, identify the internal assets our neighbors possess, and facilitate capacity building strategies with and between our neighbors for addressing and alleviating pressing economic concerns.
Through community engagement we seek to convene, confer, collaborate and coordinate with our individual neighbors, as well as community-based groups and institutions within the community, to effectively address and alleviate the pressing economic concerns of our community.
Through church engagement we seek to convene, confer, collaborate and coordinate with local churches within the community, to effectively address and alleviate both the pressing economic concerns of our community, as well as the underlying spiritual issues at the root of these economic concerns.
Urban Ministry Teams
Urban Ministry Teams (UMT’s) consist of various groups from around the country who take the plunge into a seven-day immersion in Christian community development, with an emphasis on issues concerning racial reconciliation, justice, and wholistic ministry to socio-economically distressed communities. This is facilitated through hands-on interaction with the community through work projects and strategic interactions with our neighbors in addressing pressing economic concerns within the community.
